“Napier Port’s wharf project almost completed”
Napier Port is the largest port in central New Zealand and a crucial part of Hawke’s Bay’s export-led economy.

Construction began in February 2020 just before Covid arrived in New Zealand and has taken more than two years to build. The 6 Wharf project is one of the biggest construction projects in New Zealand in recent times.
The wharf is efficient of berthing container vessels of up to 320m and cruise ships up to 360m, meaning it can accommodate the biggest cruise ships in the world.

Over the past 10 years, Napier Port has experienced stable increase in container volumes and bulk cargo exports, also has seen growth in the number of cruise ships visiting the shores. Hence the construction of this 6 Wharf will be a tremendous support for the growth and development of Napier Port Authorities’ future Endeavours.

This 6 Wharf’s layout improves the Port’s flexibility, it allows to lessen congestion, enhances running efficiency, Extend the Port’s vessel capacity and allow berthing for large vessels, and also has the capacity to deal with extra and large ships, and boosts the economic productivity. Also, this is safer, faster and sustainable.
