FSUE Hydrographic Company is a Russian company that is looking to invest about RUB 20 billion ($264 million) in the construction of its own dredging fleet.

This information was revealed yesterday by the General Director of Hydrographic Company, while he was attending the 5th International Congress “Hydraulic Engineering Structures and Dredging” being held by IAA PortNews in Moscow.

A parallel shipping route is being developed in the icy waters of the Arctic which needs maintenance dredging in the Arctic and this will make about 5 million cbm per year from 2023-24, and that entails the need to involve a certain number of specialized vessels comprising trailing suction hopper dredgers (TSHDs), ships for seabed intervention, a backhoe dredger and hydrographic survey vessels.

The estimated implementation timeline is 2023-30.
